Effectiveness of the Proposed Program for the Development of Nutritional Awareness for Kindergarten Teachers

Abstract

        The current research aim to measure the effectiveness of a proposed program for the development of nutritional awareness for the kindergarten teachers, to achieve this aim a program was prepared which consisted of six items of preparation, namely: nutrition and its importance - nutrients and their importance - children nutrition in kindergarten - diets planning for kindergarten children using the main four food groups –spread  malnutrition diseases in kindergarten stage -  wrong dietary habits practiced by the children in the kindergarten stage. The program was applied to 25  of the kindergarten teachers, the application took two weeks with three sessions per week, also a test was prepared to measure the nutritional awareness  which consisted of 35 question included all items of the program, the test has been applied  before and after the application of the program and it resulted in 60% of kindergarten teachers had poor nutritional awareness  , and 28% were of the awareness of the average, while the proportion of good  nutritional-kindergarten awareness teachers was 12%. The study also showed a significant differences at 0.05 between the average grades kindergarten teachers at the item of nutrition and its importance before and after the application of the program for the benefit of dimensional measurement, as well as the case for the rest of items ( nutrients and their importance - nutrition children in kindergarten - diets planning for kindergarten children using the main four food groups - spread malnutrition diseases in kindergarten stage - dietary habits practiced by the children in the kindergarten stage.), where they found statistically significant differences at 0.05 between the average grades kindergarten teachers in the previous items before and after the implementation of the program for the benefit of dimensional measurement. It also found statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level of significance between the average grades kindergarten teachers in the testing of nutritional awareness as a whole before and after the application of the program for the benefit of the dimensional measurement, which illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed program. Based on the above, the present study recommends taking advantage of the proposed program to raise nutritional awareness  for kindergarten teachers, given the gravity of the role played by the kindergarten teacher in the formation of the child's personality and the formation of his habit in the future.
